National Scrapbooking Day 2021: Why I LOVEscrapbooking

Why I Love Scrapbooking

On yesterday's post I started sharing a bit of my scrapbooking journey with you. Another reason why I enjoy scrapbooking so much is because it helps me to remember the good. The goodness of God through my life.

My mind can easily forget how blessed I've been through the years, ESPECIALLY when a hard one comes. Having books I can go back to browse and SEE with my own eyes His goodness makes scrapbooking worth it for me.

His Word encourages me to Remember

His Word continuously reminds us to remember. Psalm 77:11-14 says, "I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deed. Your ways, God, are holy. What God is as great as our God? You are the God that performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples."

This Psalm reminds me to NOT FORGET all His benefits. Scrapbooking seems like a perfect way of mixing crearuvity and beauty woth the testimonies of His goodness. His Word is so inspiring.

Can you spot me on this last photo. This was meeee in college. During a service with the CONFRA christian group. Long skirts, long hair, focused and totally in love with Jesus. A season I don't ever want to forget.

The Lazy Genius Way

Yesterday I listened to Principle #4 in the Lazy Genius Way Book by Kendra Adachi. These quotes really echoed in my heart.

"You can long and desire things that someone else doesn't."

"Living in your season reminds you that beginnings, endings and middles all deserve your attention and kindness and you don't need to rush through them. Just do the next right thing."

I loved it because it gives me permission to be me, the way God designed me.To follow what God Himself birthed in me, even if others can't see it yet. With likes and dislikes. I TRULY enjoy remembering His blessings and giving thanks for them. Scrapbooking is part of who I am.

My scrapbooking styles changed through the years. But my desire to keep mementos and sweet moments captured in time with photography has been always there.

Look, seems like pocket pages have been out there for many years. I got some during my college years when it was not YET a THING!  Do you see HOW skinny I was? Oh dear!

Where to start?

Honestly start with what you have. These photos are some of my first scrapbooks. Remember I told you I got some albums from Hallmark? Yes, I got them during college years. I was back in my island of Puerto Rico. When I moved to the USA, these albums came with me. They are part of my story. As are a bunch of journals with stories of my life and growing years in the Lord.

I didn't have classes, inspiration, Pinterest or Youtube, but I wanted to remember the good times. I wanted to tell my generations a bit of my stories as well. I started even before I had children. I LOVE seeing memories of our drama days, college days seeking the Lord and friends who are still my best of friends till this day. God has been good.

In 2019 I lead an event based on the product medley "Everything is Rosy". Part of this event was an inspiration video to create a mini album telling of the stories were you've been brave. To tell about your victories, your wins! Where would I be without our Lord. Want to take a peak into it. Check this video today. It was fun to make. I shared more photos of this album here

Thanks for being here today. Hope to inspire you to tell your stories and embrace the uniqueness God placed inside of you. If you celebrate National Scrapbooking Day keep me posted with your projects. Let's make it memorable!
