National Scrapbooking Day 2021: Why I LOVE Scrapbooking

Did you know I LOVE SCRAPBOOKING?

Stay tune the next days to hear why and see some of my projects through the years! National Scrapbooking Day is coming! Saturday May 1st 2021 and I so love to be reminded of the hobby that lead me to Stampin'Up! and so many other blessings. Thanks Jesus for all your blessings!

WHAT IS SCRAPBOOKING?

Scrapbooking is simply a way of telling stories. I believe you define how that looks really. There is not only ONE WAY of telling your stories. Interestingly one of the common factors of scrapbooking is PHOTOS. Through the years I have loved journaling, taking photos and putting them together. Through my high school years I did lots of it without necessarily calling it scrapbooking.

When I started?

I remember the first time I purchased a 12" x 12" big album for my MEMORIES I went to my favorite store at that time, Hallmark. I still own this album. I filled it with sweet photos and certificates and more. Come back tomorrow for some pics of these.

I used to take a ton of photos with old cameras -something I learned from my Dad- send them to be developed and wait impatiently for (not such great) photos. I kept them in boxes, put into albums but rarely add my journaling to them. I wish I did. Still these photos are so precious to me. Though my time is limited I make sure I keep adding layouts here and there that tell the stories unfolding.

I have enjoyed having diaries and cutting photos to make fun collages all through high school and my college years. When I started working my life was so full, I did little of it but as soon I started a family my LOVE for creating and remembering moments grew fervently. You will see some sweet memories here in the next days.

Why I love Scrapbooking

The layout I am sharing today looks nothing like my first albums look. Still I cherish each and every photo, entry and little details I have kept. It brings beauty to my life indeed. With that let me share one of the 10 reasons why I love scrapbooking. Scrapbooking makes me happy.

Simple but true. We are all created unique and with different inclinations. When I discovered stamping as a craft, I enjoyed creating my own backgrounds for my photos. More on that in another post. Right now, the simple joy of mixing photos, sketches, papers embellishments, words and journaling makes me happy. The Word of God says, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4 I so LOVE how God knows exactly what I like and desire. He has indeed filled my life with more than I can imagine. More than I asked or imagined. I am grateful for the big and little things.

One tip for your Scrapbooking

One of the most wonderful things I love in scrapbooking is doing it my way. I don't compare myself with anyone. I simply go with what is inspiring me. One thing I love doing repeatedly is hiding my journaling.  It is simply fun to find tabs, tags, or simply hidden letters behind my layouts for me or others to read in the future. At times I share info, dates, feelings, events or places. Anything that explains the photos a bit for those interested in the future. Our stories are beautiful. Each and every one of them. I won't be able to record everything, but if I can record some that is important to me.
